Laulupidu worth a visit for foreigners?

Hello, I've got June and July off and am planning a 6-week backpacking trip to Europe. Looking at visiting either the Baltics or the Balkans.

I know the Laulupidu will be in July and that tickets go on sale next week. I've seen video clips of past years and it seems like a very impressive event.

However, I'm wondering whether, as a foreigner who speaks no Estonian and has no connections to Estonia, Estonians or Estonian culture, it would be worth a visit or likely to be boring.

If it is worth it, which days would you suggest getting tickets for? Is it necessary to buy tickets right when they go on sale, and do you have any recommendations as to which tickets to buy?

Aitäh!
