How many of y’all experienced severe childhood trauma?
Just curious as to how many other peoples ED stemmed from trauma in their childhood/ young adult (or even adult) life, just cause that was the main predecessor and trigger for mine. (Alongside being genetically predisposed)
Edit: Hey guys, thank you all for responding with your stories! I’m so overwhelmed by the amount of people who responded to this post. I had to take a break from reading through these replies last night as hearing all of your stories got me super emotional, my heart was breaking for you all truly. For those of you commenting that you feel invalid or didn’t have childhood trauma; that’s absolutely fine, and does not make your ED any less significant or valid. And for those of you commenting that you are not sure if your trauma was ‘severe’ I’d like to clarify what my use of that word means; simply that what trauma you experienced severely affected you, which, if it made or helped you develop an eating disorder, I would say it did! All trauma is valid, all eating disorders are valid, all levels or suffering are valid and my intention was not to make you feel otherwise with this post, but to simply discuss if and how many others also developed their disorder because of trauma! Huge love and hugs to everyone in this comment section. I wish I could have gone back in time and protected you all 😓💔❣️
