Why does my Nyoni feel so clunky?

I've managed to Evo Nyoni close to a starter, or at least I thought I had. I've used a lot of players in game, and nobody has turned as slow as him. Running in a straight line players bounce off him, but he just can't change direction smoothly enough! 74 reactions is probably the only weak stat in that regard, but can this one stat really override 92 balance and 87 agility, along with the other stats? He also has Rapid, technical and first touch with a lean body type. Anybody else experienced this, or know what could be wrong?
