Would starting accutane while having dry eyes be a bad idea?
So basically this whole year i have had problems with my eyes. Im 18m and i suddenly got astigmatism and need reading glasses after having 20/20 vision all my life. My eye also got really blurry at night and just had a bunch of weird symptoms.
Always felt like something was in my eye etc. now this last 1-3 months i have been experiencing a slight but annoying burning/stinging sensation behind my eyelids especially at night. Now my eyes didn’t feel dry so I didnt think much abt it but I scheduled an appointment with an eye doctor.
While waiting like 1 months for an appointment i found out they cancelled my appointment without ever giving me notice. Now i have to go back to my family doctor and need another referral to an eye doctor.
Anyways this last month everything has just become worse, the burning the discomfort, feeling like something is in my eyes everything has just become worse.
Only problem is i have been waiting all year for an accutane perscription, and got put through rounds of antibiotics and topicals which didn’t work.
Problem is when i finally am supposed to get my accutane perscription this week. My eyes have just rapidly been going downhill and ive started to use over the counter saline solution eye drops to help relieve the burning/discomfort. Today i bought the better thealoz duo gel eyedrops but have yet to try them out.
Anyways so i have really been excited to start accutane and getting rid of my bad acne. But this dry eye stuff has really put a roadblock in front of it and its really stressing me out.
What do you guys think? Does accutane increase dry eye significantly or should i not worry about it.
I would really appreciate some advice
