Season 1 and 2 vs. Season 3 and 4

Though I enjoy all of Drake and Josh, I find that I enjoy Seasons 3 and 4 a lot more than 1 and 2. To me, Seasons 3 and 4 are 10/10 seasons of television, but Seasons 1 and 2 I'd probably give an 8 or 9. I don't know if there were any actual changes as far as creative staff to substantiate this observation, I feel like the show had a shift in tone. Drake got a little dumber. Josh got a little more jaded. Megan got a little more evil. The writing got a bit... meaner. Some of these may sound like negatives to some people, but I think it all combined to elevate Drake and Josh to a higher level for me. I like mean comedy, and that became the shows bread and butter in the last 2 seasons. Some of that was there in Season 1 or 2, but conflicts were often smaller and the vibe was often a bit more wholesome. It's especially impressive that despite this, the show still manages to keep things wholesome enough that it's still a great family sitcom. They made the comedy bite a bit more, and the characters' bickering was turned up to 11, but at the end of the day, everyone still cares for one another, and that continues to be shown. What do others in the sub think? Do you agree, or do you have a different take?
