Advice on getting to god rank?

I've been steadily grinding pvp early in the season trying to maintain a good rank. God rank playes can you give me some advice? I haven't started to face a lot of people with maxed out stars and people with a lot of god ranks but I know that eventually I will later in the season. Currently people with like 5x+ god rank scare me. Anything advice?
