My dog’s anal glands have leaked SEVERAL TIMES A DAY for her entire life!
Panko is a six month old Golden, with the most extreme anal gland problem I have ever experienced or heard of in my life. My vet constantly brushes it off as not being a big deal. She pushes us away from a prescription diet because “it’s expensive” meanwhile she has us spending so much money on probiotics and Glandex which don’t help at all! I am very certain my dog has an allergy to something but the internet says I shouldn’t experiment with an elimination diet without vet guidance but our vet is extremely unhelpful and she is the only option in my area!!!! I feel so frustrated and just want to cry all the time. Our dog is so sweet and perfect, but she clears the room multiple times a day with the disgusting fish smell. Her breath constantly smells like it too from cleaning herself. She does it when she is asleep on the couch, on car rides, literally anywhere at anytime. It is ruining our relationship with her and I feel so terrible because she can’t help it. She is currently on Purina Pro Sensitive Skin and Stomach, Advanced Glandex, and Fortiflora. Treats are Zukes peanut butter and oats. Her stool is always extremely firm. Has anyone dealt with anything like this before??? Has anyone experimented with an elimination diet on their own? Please share any advice.
