I wish Dexter was more sadistic

I started this show a couple weeks ago and it has rapidly became my favourite show ever. However I do have one reservation: Dexter's too merciful in the killing of his victims. Whether or not they met the code, virtually all of Dexter's victims were despicable people whose deaths contributed more to society than they ever would alive. There's no punishment in a quick death. I wish he at least cut them apart when they were still alive, maybe giving them some adrenaline to keep them conscious, but i suppose that may be too graphic for television.
