It's me again, the tonic farming guy, back after stress testing Bungies latest fix to Elders tonics so you don't have to.

I'll start off by saying with preliminary testing, nothing has changed with the way the tonics produce loot as far as I can tell from completions. Though kill farming is actually better! I unfortunately lost one drop due to having to go to the tower on the first tonic I tested. Also Bungie has stated they are looking at extra tuning changes for tonics. I will preface this by saying if you are going for completions or only getting like 5-6 drops a tonic you can see wild variance. Sometimes I only get 1-2 of the focused weapons out of the first 6. TL;DR at the bottom as before.

Incase you didn't see my last post here's a video of the method used in this testing I made. Using 78 minute purple tonics.

Now for the numbers, I only did 4 tonics as I maybe naively assumed they didn't mess up the reprised ones that already worked, but saw some reports in the thread mentioning the fix. So I ran what most people probably wanted from this episode a Scavengers Fate tonic, then also decided to run an Exuviae from Elders, and then both a Liturgy and Chroma from Onslaught. For Scavengers I got:

  • 10 Scavengers
  • 6 Bittersweet
  • 5 Exuviae
  • 3 Noxious

While it's not as big a gap as some of the sets in my previous post it is still a strong majority and is within the variance of RNG, though I'm still wary. I also missed a drop by going to the tower but got 24 drops, I almost wonder if they adjusted the kills required for drops. Time will tell Next Exuviae of Elders:

  • 14 Exuviae
  • 5 Noxious
  • 4 Bittersweet
  • 3 Scavengers

Here we have a much better spread. Something more along the lines of what we'd expect. Also again more than my 22-23 average before, I got a whopping 26 drops. Which is just insane, I feel though they mentioned tuning in the post linked above, they may have already tweaked the number of kills required for drops. I'll pay more attention to the exact numbers in the next test. Which brings us to the Chroma from Onslaught:

  • 12 Chroma
  • 8 ignition
  • 6 Sojourner

Again a bit on the low side but still a majority. I have confirmed that instead of being closer to 300 kills per weapon it seems to be closer to 285 as an average, which doesn't seem like a lot but it was consistently netting me 3-4 more drops(25-26) over the old average of 22-23 across a tonic. And finally a Liturgy Onslaught tonic:

  • 14 Liturgy
  • 3 Bittersweet
  • 2 Exuviae
  • 2 Insurmountable
  • 2 Sovereignty
  • 2 Vantage Point

So, at this rate I'm convinced that they have increased drop rates in the quick fix they pushed. But yeah this is a huge swing getting a vast majority of the one the tonic is made for. I'm willing to say that they have fixed stuff.

To add on to all my findings, we have this set of drops courtesy of u/Glenalth who made this awesome post on how to seize the means of productio... I mean make the most out of the surplus of green crafting materials you surely have. With a Noxious Vetiver tonic they got:

  • 14 Noxious Vetiver
  • 4 Scavenger's Fate
  • 4 Exuviae
  • 2 Bitter/Sweet

TL;DR Tonics seem to be working pretty much as they were intended originally, and they even seemed to have increased the rate at which tonics drop per kills. I do think that they should be weighted a bit more in favor of the focused weapon, but as I said they are confirmed to be doing a tuning pass so crossing my fingers.

P.S. glimmer tonics were the same number of kills as weapons before but I haven't tested if they too are lower. Nor have I tested exotic tonics which were 1 per 1k kills pre fix. If you test either of these lemme know. 5 hours in the maze last night was enough.
