PCB, Cricket Australia eye 'organising' T10 league
Day Test - Cricket Australia/AFP LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are eyeing to stage a T10 league in the future, sources told Geo News on Friday.
According to the sources, PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf will visit Australia where he will discuss the proposal with Cricket Australia officials.
Both boards will explore possibilities of jointly conducting the T10 league in the future. Ashraf will depart for Australia on December 22.
Cricket Australia has invited Ashraf to witness the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, starting from December 26.
Ashraf will also hold meetings with the authorities of Cricket Australia. They will discuss the possibilities of exchange programmes and age-group cricket series.
In October, PCB and Middlesex County Cricket Club signed an MoU to jointly launch a T10 league.
Both parties will be equal equity partners in this league subject to mutually agreed concepts, business plans, financial projections, and management structure.
It must be noted that T10 Leagues are becoming common all over the world after it started in December 2017. The tournament is being held every year in Abu Dhabi.
Zimbabwe also launched their own T10 league by the name of Zim Afro T10 which took place in July this year. US Masters T10 League; based in the United States, featuring former international players, held in August 2023.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are also in line to host their very own T10 league.
Earlier, Indian media reported that BCCI is considering launching a T10 format cricket league, and it may begin between October and September next year. It said that BCCI secretary Jay Shay is working on a blueprint for the proposed league.
