Just started Episode 7 and Nina’s story resonates with me for some reason
For some reason her story resonated deeply with me…maybe because it touched on the topic of what it’s like to have a disability.
Especially one that can change your life forever.
When Nina was a baby, she was born with many irregularities. Like how some people are born with a disability.
Her mother, Lily couldn’t withstand the thought of her baby daughter going through that much pain, but now watching this episode fully, I understand.
Lily wanted her daughter to be a normal human child, except that’s not what happened. Nina’s father did the right thing to help support his daughter to stay alive. And it started with her dad installing a portable iron lung as a sort of back brace to help support Nina.
I never really thought that an episode would hit me this deeply but it did….somehow.
Just know that if you have a disability or some kind of syndrome, be thankful that you’re alive right here right now…because your parents and/or your doctors are lucky enough to have the things they need to help you stay alive.
And who cares if you’re born differently? If you get bullied at school because of who you are and/or what you look like, then who cares? They don’t control you. They don’t have the right to judge what you look like. Just be yourself.
I know this is my first post on this subreddit but I felt like I had to…
