Never thought I would see such a relevant take for this Sub on a different side of YouTube
Context: video is about a girl who went to college and parents paid 170k. However, the girl decided to be a twitch streamer and her parents admits on stream that they almost went broke because of that and would love to be paid back as they see lending her that kind of money was a basically a waste. There has been a heated discourse on the internet about it and the YouTubers in the video ‘take’ is that you technically don’t have to pay your parents back for college but you should in that scenario.
Made me think about this sub HEAVILY because there’s too many people on here who keeps on complaining about people having opinions on the family. Of course there are going to be opinions - if you don’t want people to talk about you, don’t be on camera, get off the internet. Look what happened to Joe, people barely mentioned him now. As a Redditor previously said on this sub, it’s like reality tv for us.
The truth is you just gotta deal with it - if you want the fame and money. I know in videos they say, “you don’t know what people are going through in the background.” No, you have to deal with it. You can’t have this high reward “job” without great disadvantages. Like gambling, high reward but also high risks, and I can give more examples of careers with very high pay but lots of risks. The adults in the family should be competent enough to know that fame and money comes with a lot of risks, however they continue to choose fame and/or money over privacy, mental health, social isolation, identity issues, exploitation, etc. If they ACTUALLY cared about those things they would have kept their life private. There’s no excuse.
