Instacart delivery markup
I realize this topic is discussed here pretty regularly, but today I collected some data that people might find useful. I typically hear the same-day (Instacart) delivery markup being around 5-10%, which is tempting to me if I get to use a higher-points-value credit card and avoid Toronto traffic. Today I bit the bullet and drove to the warehouse, did some routine shopping, and then compared by receipt values to those on the same-day delivery webpage, for the sake of data collection (since the actual markup isn't advertised).
The markup varies from 10-20%, with a median of 18%. It wasn't noticeably higher for fresh or heavy items. In retrospect, this is too high to justify getting delivery for more than a couple things at a time, so more time in traffic for me.
