Rib eye quality mediocre in the last couple years at my local Costco. Is it nationwide or just mine?

Been all of my steaks/beef/roasts from [So Cal] Costco last couple of decades. My go-to is Choice Rib eye, either steaks or racks. I was pretty much able to get well-marbled cuts that were often close enough to Prime.

But the last couple years 95 percent of the choice rib eye was a lot closer to Select. I kinda got used to it, like a boiled frog.

But last week I was at Smart and Final and came across about 10 cryovaced choice rib eye roasts. The quality/marbling was substantially better than the choice rib eye I've been getting at Costco these last couple years. It was akin to what I got from Costco in the past. I just cooked one last night, and it was phenomenal.

So, has anyone else noticed a drop in quality, or is it just my local Costco?

Edit: Clarified about that I'm in So Cal. Yeah, you all seem to confirm what I've been seeing. Looking back, it's probably been closer to 5 years than just a couple years that it's been bad.
