How to get these fabric balls off of my clothing?

I got a blanket as a gift from a friend and washed it with my regular clothes in the washing machine. Everything is completely covered in these little fuzzy balls. It’s challenging to get them out with a lint roller. Any advice? Sending them through a second wash cycle did not work.
