I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, life is pain. I'm unsure how to approach going on pain meds at my annual check up.
I have hypermobility, along with chronic joint/muscle pain just about everywhere. Sciatic pain going down both legs, lower back pain, shoulder pain, chronic headaches, etc. etc. etc. I've done physical therapy several times over the years with limited results. I'm now 35 and I just want to have a day where my pain doesn't get above my definition of a 5 (which would probably be more like an 8 for the average person). I just want to sleep.
I want to mention going on some sort of pain medication for my real bad days, but I'm afraid of appearing like I'm drug seeking. I have a long history of joint pain and I've turned down the idea of pain meds in the past. I hope that helps. But any advice on how to plead my case in a way that makes it clear I genuinely just want to remember what life is without pain? Or even less pain? I'll settle for that.
