Should I get one kitten or two?

Hello cat lovers! I am adopting a kitten in a few months, so I've been doing a lot of poking around online about cat stuff to prepare myself. I came across some info saying that it's better to adopt two kittens than one. As cat owners who have done this, is this a good idea? I don't have a fence in my backyard so my cat will be an indoor one, so I was thinking about adopting a second one so that he'll be more enriched and have a friend to play with. Is it better to get them in pairs? Or should I wait until he's older to get him a companion. Any advice would be great Thanks!
