Should I get a new cat?

My cat is a male 1 year old snowshoe who is extremely playful!! I know he does well with other cats as we lived with my mother for 6 months who has two cats and my cat was always playing with them.

I live on my own now which means that while me and my partner are at work, he is alone :( I play with him when I get home but I don’t think it’s enough to satisfy his play craving if that makes sense. I’ve been thinking of getting a new cat, kitten-6 months old for him so he can have someone while i’m not home but not too sure my reasoning is solid. Let me know what you guys think!!
