the single cat dilemma

i have one cat, two years old, that i’ve had since he was a kitten. having a hard time deciding if i should adopt a second cat to keep him company. i work full time and live alone so i wonder if he’s super bored when i’m not home or if he’s used to being alone. since i’ve had him alone for so long it worries that he might not get along with another cat.

is it better in your experience to adopt kittens or cats near your current cats age? have you noticed huge differences in owning one cat vs two?
