[Theory] The tomb / Citadelle

In the final scene of citadelle Krafft warns the crew that the sentinel artefact could ‘consume’ them. In the cutscene after the bossfight in the tomb when the characters approach the artefact they have a strange behaviour, as if they are hypnotized, all stretching out their hands to take it, and afterwards for the whole cutscene we don't see them again, apart from the scene where they are about to get into the helicopter, and even there, they have something suspicious, like they are not in control. I wonder, what if they were already corrupted by the sentinel artefact at the end of the battle? Just guessing, what do you think about?
