"An insult to the intelligence of the American people"

I keep coming back to the words Luigi spoke on his way to the courthouse in Pennsylvania. Especially because these are the only words we've heard from him since his arrest, besides his plea of not guilty.

I know there was some debate about whether he said "out of touch" or "unjust." It's still not 100% clear to me, but I've become convinced that he said this is "out of touch."

"This is completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience."

I believe he was speaking directly to the media here, not talking about the police or charges. He was responding to one of the reporters who had just said his name.

I came to this conclusion after seeing the response from the media. Every time I've read an article or watched some talking head decry this "horrible crime" and act like they don't understand the public's response, I think "you are so out of touch."

Because it is. It's out of touch and it's an insult to us, who are tired and fed up with corporate exploitation. We deal with these company's abusive practices every day. That is our lived experience.

Now that I've watched it, I think the full sentence is:

"Your coverage of this event has been completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience!"
