Beterbiev vs Bivol: what will be different from the 1st fight?

I have watched the fight 5 times. I could watch it another 50 times and still be entertained. One thing that stood out to me was this:

Out of the two boxers, Beterbiev is the one who has the most scope to improve. All of the talk is about what Bivol will do differently to get the verdict this time, but I honestly do not see much for Bivol to improve on. Certainly no low hanging fruit. The only real critique of Bivol in the first fight was that he was too greedy in a few of his combinations and he could probably get in and out of range better this time around. Other than this, I do not know what Bivol’s team can take away from that first fight and rewrite the blueprint. Bivol fought almost faultlessly against an absolute beast.

Beterbiev on the other hand was too easy to hit, having barely any head movement. Often when he showed aggression, he still didn’t recognise how Bivol evaded every hook that was designed to take his head off. The only hooks that connected, were the ones when Bivol had gloves in the way. Beterbiev’s team will know how to cut the ring off better this time; they will be more disciplined on defence; and more effective when loading up on shots to the head and body.

The only other factor that I hear is that Beterbiev is 40. I’m sorry, but he is not going to lose his tank less than 6 months later. The man is an elite athlete. Bivol would have aged much worse after the first fight.

It will never be an easy night’s work. But I see this being a more conclusive victory for Beterbiev.
