Was there any point in bringing Kunigami as Wild Card?

So now that S2 has ended with this scene I was wondering was there actually any point of Kunigami being in the story, because I will be honest I don't remember much of him doing anything of significance in the Manga.

Even now in the Neo Egoist League, i don't remember him being a prominent character who had any impact on the story.

Actually him being eliminated added more as it showed that, it doesn't matter if he is from main cast. Any character can be eliminated.

What are your thoughts 💭
