Only wanting cash gifts

So we only really want cash for our wedding and don’t want to come right out and say it. Where does everyone stand on doing the whole honeymoon fund website thing? My family thinks it’s tacky and my fiancés family thinks it’s fine. I tend to lean toward the tacky side. (No hate if you did it, I’ve been considering it for awhile)

My plan is to create a small registry or not register at all. I think guests will get the message without explicitly saying give us cash lol

Thoughts?

EDIT: We live out of state and our wedding is in our hometown. We also live in an apartment and fear our packages might get stolen.
