Gross Customer Service Experience

I called customer service to make sure the location I was driving to was still open and had the product I wanted in stock…the lady I spoke with in “corporate” customer service confirmed the item was available and the store was open, and then flat-out LIED to me, saying that I needed to pre-order them from her because if I went to the store to buy them they wouldn’t let me pick them up until the following morning. This didn’t sound right so I asked her to explain and even asked her, “So you’re telling me that if I go in person tonight, I will not be able to buy them and take them home tonight?” And she said yes, that’s what she was saying. When I got to the store it was no problem, I bought the product I had come for (without pre-ordering them from “Devi”) and then I told the salesperson about the call and he explained that they at the local store can’t stand the corporate customer service reps, and that the loophole the phone agent was using was that if I wanted the store to put the item up front for me it wouldn’t be available until the next day. ?? None of it made sense, but clearly they were just trying to get me to buy the item over the phone. The whole phone experience felt very Nigerian-prince-y. And of course there was no way to actually call the local store. Just GROSS, Best Buy.
