Looking for some build help

I'm completely new to Baldurs gate, turn based RPGs and DnD in general.

I'm playing through the campaign coop and my friend decided to reroll their character (which is fine) so we're starting again.

I always end up playing a tanky frontliner in any game (long time MMO player), but the paladin I built felt super weak (I did my own build).

I want to be a front liner again, but all the builds I find seems complex or cheesy.

Our party complains will be:

Sorcerer damage Bard support Barbarian damage And me?

Any suggestions on survivable frontliner builds that are beginner friendly? I can't seem to find anything online (written wise, haven't delved through the 25000 YouTube builds).

I just want to do ok damage and not get two tapped.
