Suspected ASD 22 month old son

Hi everyone,

My 22 month old son has just had his developmental check up and I had some concerns of ASD which I expressed and he is being added to wait list for assessment. I would just like opinions on how to help him while I wait (could be 2 to 3 year waiting time on public list). I don't mind paying private for any therapies he may need.

So for some information on things he does:

He has around 30 words, animals, animal noises, objects He dances and does the actions to lots of songs like wheels on the bus, head shoulders knees and toes etc Plays peekaboo, blows kisses, waves bye bye, pretends to talk on the phone, copies me by brushing his hair, sweeping the floor, sticking tongue out Has great eye contact with me and his Dad and people he knows, Plays with toys appropriately, will push a car, stack blocks, sort shapes, hug and kiss teddy bears, Loves books and will turn the pages himself, Can use pencil or crayons and scribble, Claps hands, pats tummy and head to Ms Rachel and copies lots of things she does, Understands some tasks like let's go for a bath, bring me a book, bring me your socks

But he also:

Doesn't point much, leads me by the hand to show what he wants, Loves spinning, Doesn't really pay attention to anyone around him, in a world of his own, Walks on his toes sometimes at home when watching tv or running through the house, not when he's outdoors. Doesn't really respond to his name

What are your thoughts? Did your children show these same signs and end up on the spectrum and what are their additional needs? What can I do to help my son?

Thank you so much if you got this far, just a worried Momma who wants to give him the best start possible x
