“Do you want to…” vs “will you..”
Hi everyone! How do you feel when people ask you “do you want to (do this favor or thing you probably don’t want to do)” instead of just straight up asking you “will you (do, go to, help with) this (thing/place) for me?” Or any variation of these.
I have had multiple partners and friends through my life, all NT, phrase these types of questions this way. Like, obviously I’m fine doing whatever it is that I’m already currently doing, of course I don’t want to change the current state of my tasks. However, if you ask me to do something or go somewhere or whatever then I would most likely be more than happy to.
Even when I ask them to just straight up ask me and that if they do that then I would usually be more than happy to be helpful, they still don’t ask directly. It’s very frustrating. I have to adjust how I interact with everything in my life because it’s all for them, but for them to adjust 1 thing is like the most impossible task, especially when it comes to being straightforward and direct.
Anyways, I guess this turned into a rant, but I would honestly like to know what everyone’s opinion on this is. Which do you prefer and why? I would love to know!
Thank you!
