Showering Every Day?

I was raised to shower every day and I usually do, at least every day that I leave the house. But other people are telling me at my ripe old age of 27 that showering every day isn't necessary????? They don't shower every day?????? I feel insane, please discuss. (I have to get my hair wet to feel functional about my extra porous hair so that might have something to do with it I guess.)
