Will I regret doing this?

Planning on ripping up this turf and turning it into a kids dirt play area.

Worried it’s a bit too close to the house foundations and it will affect the drainage without the turf?

Planning on digging out the sir Walter and maybe another few inches and then adding some gravel + coarse sand base before chucking dirt back on top.
