Does taking my inhaler help when my shortness of breathe is triggered by GERD/Heartburn

Hi all,

I’ve been asthmatic my whole life, and have had flare ups every so often, but as I approach 30 I fear that my asthma is getting harder to control.

Currently I am taking Fostair (100/6mg) as my maintenance inhaler. I was taking 2 puffs in the morning and night, and using my salbutamol as my rescue inhaler, but as I needed my rescue medicine more and more, my asthma nurse decided to put me on a new plan. The new plan is still the same dose of fostair, but I can take an extra puff or two mid way through the day if I get short of breathe.

This has helped, as i dont feel as shaky from puffing on salbutamol all day, but I am concerned as I shouldn’t be needing soo much medication in general.

I have had issues with acid reflux and have been diagnosed with GERD and H-pylori. I’ve finished my treatment for H- Pylori earlier this year, but I still have general heartburn/GERD issues, so I am going to get tested again and try talk to a doctor about getting my gut in order.

I’m almost certain that a main factor of my asthma is triggered by this, and I’m wondering if I’m doing the right thing increasing my doses, or/and is there anything else I could do?

Has anyone else went through this?
