What is gay men's experience with the "male loneliness epidemic"?

I just saw a post on the topic of the male loneliness epidemic. The top response was by a gay man, who left a very insightful comment and got me thinking how gay men feel about this whole concept. In a way, I'm trying to figure out how much of this "epidemic" (in quotes because I don't know if it's real or just a phrase that gets said a lot) falls into romantic relationships.

Random thoughts/questions:

Do gay men experience this less, as a result of more even dating field?

Do gay men in conservative areas experience this even more, because dating is much harder?

Or do gay men experience this about the same as straight men, indicating that the dating dynamics aren't that much of a factor in this whole feeling of loneliness.
