I can smell when my boyfriend is psychotic

I 23f smell a distinct smell when my boyfriend is psychotic- it’s not body odor, it’s like chlorine but if it was earthy. Is this even possible? I see /some/ research about it but am I just losing my mind? Is this possible? Or is it coincidental and I’m smelling something else? I’ve never smelled this smell outside of when my boyfriend is psychotic edit: he takes adderall and the adderall use increases when he’s psychotic, so that could explain it but it smells similar to acetone so i’m gonna see about getting a bgl kit from the store. his liver enzymes were also elevated about a year ago so i’m gonna bring up getting those rechecked. hopefully it’s just the increased adderall use and nothing more but better safe than sorry. thanks for the help everyone!
