UTI help
36F Prednisone 15mg, Lamictal 35mg
I have long covid as well as a hypersensitive nervous system. I've reacted to every single medication and supplement I've started since 2019. I fare best when I avoid anything that affects my nervous system.
Last Saturday I developed a UTI. My doctor gave me the option of taking either a 5-day course of macrobid or a single dose of fosfomycin. People with long covid tolerate narrow spectrum antibiotics better than broad ones, but people with hypersensitive nervous systems have a harder time with more doses.
I have no idea how to proceed. Could I continue to wait it out and see if the UTI goes away on its own? If so, how much longer can I give it? And if not, which antibiotic would be the better option? I'm terrified of my long covid getting worse -- I've spoken to multiple people with long covid whose symptoms drastically worsened after a course of antibiotics (cipro, mostly, but others as well).
