Help with MRI Images and Strange Symptoms, Brain Mass and EBV
43F, 5'3", 175lbs, white, drink 8-10 drinks per week, smoke marijuana daily, regular exercise and eat mostly healthy. On Fluoxitine 40mg/day - helps so much with anxiety. Started hydroxychloroquine for lupus diagnosis 6 months ago 400mg/day.
I could go on and on about all my symptoms - but I'll keep to the most important.
Persistent, debilitating fatigue
Lots of edema everywhere - especially face/neck/arms - this has caused me to gain lots of "fluid" weight - the hydroxychloriquine helped some with this edema
Swollen, painful lymph nodes for over 1 year - neck and armpits
Night sweats
Most worrisome symptom is hearing loss and pain in right ear. It came and went for about a year and now has become constant. Ear full of edema, very ITCHY, painful (not an ear infection - I have been checked for this many times), hearing affected - not sure if it is conductive or sensorineural but lots of trouble hearing and understanding.
MRI last Dec showed "cortical thickening" and 1.4 cm on some lymph nodes in neck. They caught a "glimpse" of something else and sent me for MRI.
Found a mass in right temporal lobe and have had 3 MRIs from Jan to April. It grew 2mm in that time and measures 1.8 cm. Please see most recent MRI here https://imgur.com/JElyDsJ
To sum up my bloodwork - worsening anemia, high inflammation, very high EBV viral loads that keep increasing (chronic active EBV?).
I am new to the area where I live and I feel that things are moving slowly in the medical system. While I wait for appointments and tests, my health deteriorates. I have been dealing with strange symptoms for 3+ years and now I am finally getting to the bottom of it.
The neurosurgeon who I saw for my temporal lobe mass has referred me to Shands UF Health in Gainesville. He recommended a biopsy or removal and thought I should go somewhere that has more specialists. I have an appointment in a few days. I am terrified.
They have given me no idea what I may be dealing with. I know that EBV can lead to cancers, such as lymphoma.
I am also scared that the appointment I have been waiting for at Shands will just result in more waiting for tests. I am worried my hearing will become permanently damaged as I wait.
I would really love some expert opinions. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
