Does my art commission suck? Help please!
A rapper commissioned me to do an album cover for him. His vision is based off the painting by Seurat, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grand Jatte". Since my main style is pointillism, the idea was to redesign it but incorporate the formula/technique of it while replacing the characters (some of them are real people in his life). The man + kid-(representing him and his inner child) - in the middle are green/blue by request as a symbolism, so the rest of the people are shades of purple to continue this. The umbrella is also a metaphor.
That being said, i've never been to art school and this is my first time using paint/color in my work so l honestly don't know what i'm doing. I'm pretty much finished, but i'm not exactly happy with the result and don't know why. Everyone is saying it's really good (including the client), but I feel like the colors are perhaps too bright and don't fit, or the anatomy/realism is too off. So my question is- does this suck? Is it worth $100? All honest advice/critique is welcome feel free to be brutal! Thank you
(the photos are reflecting the light off the paint more than they do irl. Also, it’s supposed to be looked at from further away but i want it to look good up close too haha)
