My thoughts about the Players on both US/Soviet teams

New to Arma Reforger (about a month) and quickly picked up the clear differences on the player base.

The U.S side seem to be very attractive to new players of the game or players who generally just prefer the weapons and vehicles.

The Soviet side consist of majority seasoned players with experience in the game and understand the value of supplying bases and minimizing load outs.

My first game loaded on the US side got completely humbled by the other team and lost. Played for a few games and realized most of the time at game start everyone would be arguing about setting up an armory vs radio tower. Luckily my first few games I had a few seasoned players explain to us the importance of radio relays, major ports.

The game clicked for me after the first 3 games. After a while I attempted the Soviet side, simply used what I spawned in with and we dominated the map within the hour. The start of game was efficient radio relays and supplies were being run to FOB’s to help the advance.

However a week later this gets boring, consistently playing against a team who’s not moving between objectives - selecting objectives that are not vital to the end goal. My friends and I decided to join the US side again to teach and share knowledge and try to improve the experience overall for new players. This meant staying at MOB at game start and build a radio relay, dismantle the armory and tell people it’s too early in the game. Prioritize taking control of atleast 2 coastal bases and then we can build armories for extra magazines/AT4’s.

I’ve even had to explain the more gear you carry the slower you’ll be. Slower you’ll be easier target you can be.

So far this has worked on 3-4 games when the US actually wins from the team communicating and prioritizing points to win instead of looking good.

We’ve lost a few games sure but how can people learn and enjoy the game if no one is willing to help teach the game. Sure you’ll have people not willing to learn they’ll leave when the game isn’t fun to them.

Ive actually enjoyed the matches a lot more than playing on the Soviet side and just winning by a landslide. It’s more challenging and drawn out. I think for the players who have been on Arma for a long time should consider joining the US side and creating a bigger challenge for the Soviet teams.

TLDR: If you’re a seasoned player on Arma you should consider joining the US side and help new players learn the importance of supplies, radio relays and major objectives. The game is not fun if only one team wins all the time.

Sorry for the long post
