You guys are really dependent from Amazon services, is it normal in America? (I'm not from US

I've seen so much posts about giving up from Amazon, it seems like if it was hard to live without it.

I buy from Amazon from time to time (very rarely), but in no way I'm dependent of their products.

(pls smart asses of course I'm not including AWS which is serving almost the whole internet)
