How do you 'ankify' complex mind maps without losing the big picture?

How do you handle self-created mind maps alongside Anki? I'm talking about broad concept maps I create to understand complex topics (like disease mechanisms or historical cause-effect chains), not textbook diagrams.

I use Anki for detail-level flashcards, but I also create my own mind maps for big-picture understanding. I'm trying to figure out how to use Anki's spaced repetition for reviewing these mind maps alongside my regular flashcard practice.

I'm not looking to convert the maps into cards - rather, how do you schedule and review your own concept maps using Anki's spacing algorithm while keeping your detail-level cards separate?

What's your approach to managing both levels of learning?
