Can Villagers Move Back In ACNH?

I got Raymond to move onto my island and offered him to a friend who really wanted him on their own island, currently in the process of making him want to move (via ignoring him rather than hitting him over and over cause I can’t bring myself to do that) so they can come over and get him, but I’m curious if it’s possible to get him to move back again after he leaves for my friend’s island cause while I’m fine with helping my friend out I would still like to have him come back at some point if possible
