Fissurectomy (NOT LIS) tomorrow - Tel me your experience!

35M living in Germany.

After 15 years suffering from fissures (which started after a different surgery in the area 15 years ago) I'm finally having this surgery tomorrow.

Here the standard for anal fissures seems to be fissurectomy rather than LIS (I guess it's because of the lower incontinence risk).

I've been looking for other people's experiences here. It's hard to find thought, since most people here seem to be posting either about LIS or LIS + fissurectomy. I'm aware that this is probably because a big part of the people posting here are from the US and LIS is considered the gold standard there while fissurectomy seems to be way more common in Europe.

Anyways I would be happy to hear experiences from people having only the the fissurectomy so that is clear to what I can expect.

I'm specially concerned about how long it took for you to:

  • Be done with the Post-OP pain
  • Have an easy time passing stools without help from laxatives, fiber or anything else
  • Drinking coffee
  • In you're into receiving anal sex, also how long before that was even an option

I would also be happy to hear whether you feel like it solved your problem completely or whether any further surgery / action was needed afterwards.

Edit: update

Day 1 post OP:

I don't have any pain. I did have some pain yesterday waking up from the anestesia but it wasn't as terrible as I imagined.

Oral Ibuprofen & rectal lidocaine helped a lot. Combining them was the thing that killed the pain in day 0. I got some rectal bleeding in general but I'm fine with it,I think it's normal.

My first bowel movement yesterday was easier that I thought. Probably the 2 sachets of Macrogol (miralax in the US) that I use daily helped a lot. Since the poo was so soft it was easy to pass it out. Anyways I'm happy that our went well!
