AITAH for leaving my class group chat after graduation?
I (17m) finished school in November 2024, and after graduating, I left the class group chat. There were a few reasons why I made this decision:
I didn't enjoy my time at the school. It was an overall negative experience for me, and I didn’t feel connected to the place or the people.
My classmates weren’t great to me. They weren’t bullies, but they were just kind of selfish. They’d ask for favors, get what they wanted, then not return the favor when I needed something. It just felt like they were taking advantage of me, and I wasn’t getting any real support in return.
After graduation, I didn’t see the point of staying in the group chat anymore. The class had finished, and there was no real connection for me to maintain. So, I left. The group was for 1054, and after finishing, I felt like I had nothing more to contribute.
I was added back to the group chat, but they renamed it something like “Class of 1054 Memories” or “Graduation Class” or something along those lines. But I still didn’t feel like it had any purpose for me, so I left again.
Now, the former head boy of the school texted me asking why I left the group chat, and it’s making me second-guess my decision. Was I wrong to leave the chat? Did I overreact, or was I justified given my experience?
