AITAH for spraying my cat with Water?

Recently my partner and I had a baby. We live in a small house and lately the cats have been jealous for attention.

My Orange cat has been going under the bed and scratching the mattress and carpet (only at times where we’d be in bed like 2:00 am - 6:00 am solely to get attention (there are plenty of scratch posts about)

No matter how many times I physically yank him out to tell him to cut it out, he’ll run back and do it again.

I’ve tried exiling them from the room only for the to body slam the door loudly which could wake the baby.

In a tired rage I grabbed the spray bottle and sprayed him and now I’m afraid he’ll hold it against me

Where did I go wrong?
