BCBA gave advice that I’m not too sure about??

My BCBA supervised me with my morning client earlier last week. In response to some of my client’s behaviors (non-compliance with classwork or running around classroom), my BCBA suggested that I threaten my client with leaving. She felt that since my client really likes my company, that threatening to leave could motivate her to decrease her maladaptive behaviors. This kinda confused me since I can’t actually leave anyway so wouldn’t this type of intervention eventually stop working long term? I have already asked for clarification from the BCBA; just wanted to see if anyone else may have some insight in the meantime?
