acquaintance claims she got into Oxford by "cheating her way in/legacy" to my face after I got rejected

Hello! So a little bit of a weird situation...someone at my school (I'm from the US) who is from the UK came up to me randomly saying, "Oh, I heard you got into Oxford!" and I said, "no I didn't, why?" and she said how she got into Oxford, and how she was the granddaughter of someone who donates millions every year, and she got a preferred "legacy admission and cheated her way in". I tried to ask her more details but she didn't really say anything substantive. I didn't believe her, she didn't even meet the entry requirements at all LOL...she also says she's not going to Oxford and is going to Syracuse instead...Literally everyone knows I got rejected from Oxford and it was my dream school so I have no idea why she would say that other than to taunt me. Also who is choosing Syracuse over Oxford? Also she is best friends with someone who got into USC (I also got into USC) and I'm likely not going to go to USC and they are all quite salty that I got in and they didn't to their dream school, so I'm wondering if this girl pulled a stunt on behalf of her friends to make me "feel how they would feel?"

Is it possible, though, that Oxford admits people this way? They claim they don't look at donor status or anything like that at all, but it's scary, as I felt like I narrowly missed Oxford and this girl has kind of planted a seed of doubt that my spot was taken. I never asked her what college she supposedly applied to before she walked away.
