Best place to stay to go to a game?

I’m travelling to the US to go to a 9ers game in September. I was wondering if you guys have any tips on a good area to stay that would be good to do touristy stuff in the city as well as close connections to public transport to get to Levi’s.

Also would Airbnb be the best option? I’ve heard accomodation in SF can be pricey.
