Ads and the community's reaction to them
Obligatory "Probably going to get downvoted, unpopular opinion"
I was one of the people who was able to take the survey and I see some WILD misinformation floating around here and the content creator space. I felt the need to correct it in case anyone cared or had input that could change my perspective on it.
The ads were foremost stated to be NON INTRUSIVE and were stated to be not gameplay interrupting. Now I dont support ads in the game either, but if you take what they said and exaggerate it I feel like it makes your input more hysteria driving and less likely to be taken seriously. Additionally they offered benefits for watching these ads, not just adding them on and upping your membership cost.
Most of the outrage is justified but this one point seems to be what I see a lot of content creators focusing on, which is just wild. Reactions like these will result in price hikes with NO benefits to players, since people are just lashing out wildly and not acknowledging that the purpose of this survey was to see where players prioritize benefits that their memberships bring.
All in all, I think its good that this community has a strong distaste for microtransactions and monetization but it needs to be properly directed.
EDIT: Thanks to a few replies I can see the error in my thinking. I assumed that Jagex would stay true to their words but it was pointed out that it is liable to slip into something worse. Thank you for all the replies thus far though!
