Colonoscopy terror. Please share your UK experiences.

I see a lot of people saying their colonoscopy went fine but much of this seem to be in the US when being knocked out is the norm. So it's a bit misleading I think for other countries.

I have a non urgent scope and I'm petrified. More about the procedure and being in hospital than the actual outcome right now. I would like to hear from people who avoided sedation and whether that was manageable. I live alone, so I can't be sedated it seems.

Would also like to know how sedation affected people. I am concerned it will have lasting effects and I won't be able to function if I end up having it.

I fear health anxiety is what has got me into this mess but now I'm stuck in a cycle.
