Reoccurring nightmare since age 6

Not sure if this is really the place to post about nightmares but I feel like this subreddit gets a lot more traction rather than the official nightmares one lol.

Ever since I was around 6, I’ve had these nightmares of a man that I’ve never seen, but always feel the presence of? The first one started with me sleeping as per usual in my bed, my door opens slowly and reveals a dim red light and you get this body chilling feeling that I’ve never been able to explain. The red light gets closer & closer, but I always wake up before I see him.

Scariest one I’ve had recently goes like this: I’m at a house party with my mother and some friends, weirdly enough the house is 3 stories tall with spiral staircases that lead up; all of the rooms look futuristic and it’s basically the norm of any dream. I decide that I want to take a shower but one of my friends is already in there, so I head back to the kitchen where my mother is. There’s 2 doors that connect to this kitchen as it’s in the corner of the house, I walked in there facing east and the second door is facing south with a long hallway that leads to the front door (exact layout of my brothers house minus the kitchen). It’s all normal until the front door slams open & that body chilling feeling settles in again, I grab my mother out of pure adrenaline screaming “he’s here” and run towards the door heading outside onto my brothers front lawn. After a moment of looking around wondering what to do, I turn back to my mother and see that she’s gone. There’s nobody in sight, it’s just me and this red light at the front door. For some weird reason, I felt like I had to go inside and investigate. I walk up the steps actively trying to wake myself up which I do just before I enter the house.

I’ve never met anyone that’s had these types of nightmares or even feeling at that, would be awesome if I could find some people with similar experiences. I hope you enjoyed my story if you’ve read it.
